Apple has promoted Oliver Schusser to the role of VP of Apple Music & International Content, effectively putting him in charge of the Apple Music Worldwide team.

Schusser was previously the vice president of Apple Music & International Content.

Based in London, he handled iTunes movies and TV portals, iBooks and Apple Podcasts in 38 international offices outside the US.

He was apparently instrumental in the company's Shazam takeover, which is still awaiting regulatory approval.

He now relocates to California to take over his new position.

Schusser reports to SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue.

They’re both close; Cue gave him his first job at Apple 14 years ago.

Schusser’s appointment is not thought to be related to Jimmy Iovine’s decision to step down from day-to-day operations to a consultant role mid-year.

With Schusser's move, Apple marketing exec Tracey Hannelly is now promoted to lead International services in 155 markets.

As reported in TMN, Apple Music has been growing at a rapid rate, adding 2 million new subscribers since March to bring the total figure to 40 million.
