Amy Shark signs global deal with Red Light Management

Amy Shark has signed a global management deal with powerhouse U.S. management company Red Light Management, ahead of the release of new music.

The Gold Coast singer and songwriter signed with Red Light Management President Will Botwin, who personally manages such artists as Brandi Carlile and the Tom Petty Estate.

Shark is co- managed with Shane Billings and Red Light in Australia and NZ.

With Red Light, Shark will take another crack at North America and the rest of the world. “We are absolutely thrilled to have Amy Shark join the Red Light Management team,” comments Botwin in a statement. “Amy is an extraordinary songwriter and singer and we are looking forward to help develop Amy’s career further on a global scale.”

Shark is enjoying the sort of career stretch most artists can only dream of. Off the back of a breakout with ‘Adore,’ which hit No. 2 on the triple j Hottest 100 2016, Shark’s debut album Love Monster (Wonderlick/Sony) started at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, in July 2018.

Awards fell like dominoes. Shark cleaned up at the 2018 ARIA Awards, bagging best female artist, best pop release for a second-successive year, and album on the year. In 2019, she finally won the coveted song of the year at the APRA Music Awards after scoring nominations for three consecutive years.

Just this week, she was on hand at the 2020 Queensland Music Awards to collect the highest-selling single honour, for ‘Mess Her Up’.

With the Red Light deal in place, Shark will look to become a big fish in the world’s biggest market. She’s already done the groundwork, with a string of sold-out U.S. shows and festival slots, and performed ‘Adore’ on both 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' and 'The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon'.

Also, her most recent track was a collaboration with American EDM duo The Chainsmokers on ‘The Reaper’.

Shark “will be releasing new music in 2020,” reads a statement from her reps. Whether a full-length follow-up to Love Monster will arrive, time will tell.

Speaking to TIO last month, Billings hinted at an expansion to her global management team. “She works harder than any human I personally know,” he explains, “she’s motivated and is constantly striving to be better today than she was yesterday.”
