The Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap) has launched two new charts to highlight the most popular Australian singles serviced to community radio.

Each week, the ‘Amrap Metro Chart’ and ‘Amrap Regional Chart’ will update with the Top 10 singles most ordered for airplay. The Top 10 is taken from Amrap’s AirIt - community radio’s Australian music distribution service subscribed to by 2,500 broadcasters from 250 stations. Over 1,500 tracks are ordered for airplay through AirIt each week.

Musicians and labels can now track their songs through the regional and metropolitan community radio markets.

Amrap Manager Chris Johnson said this will highlight the influence that community radio has in the development of both emerging musicians and established artists that rely on community radio to reach the airwaves.

“Community radio has championed Australian music for over 40 years and more recently Amrap’s AirIt has ensured that broadcasters from the smallest regional towns to the big city music stations can access new Australian music for airplay,” Johnson told TMN.

“The Amrap Charts will showcase the unique tastes of these broadcasters, who are often ahead of the curve when it comes to discovering new musicians and passionately loyal to established Australian musicians that continue to release great music,” he added.

The charts will be published weekly on TMN, with Johnson himself penning a Amrap Chart Wrap to be published on TMN each Tuesday.

This year the Community Broadcasting Assocation of Australia's (CBAA) Amrap added its 4,000th Australian musician to AirIt and distributed its 250,000th music file for airplay.
