The Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) has announced the nominees for the 2021 Independent Label of the Year Award.

ABC Music, etcetc, IOHYOU, Spinning Top and UNFD have each been nominated for this year's coveted award, recognising their achievements over the past 12 months within the local music sector.

Thanks to 2021 AIR Awards supporting partner Moshtix, the recipient of this year's Independent Label of the Year Award will receive flights and accommodation for two to experience a concert of their choice during the 2022 Twilight at Taronga season.

Last year's winner was ABC music, and Natalie Waller, the label's head, said it was a great honour, especially up against such incredible competition.

“Winning Independent Label of the Year at the 2020 AIR Awards was such an amazing achievement for the team at ABC Music and our artists," Walker added.

Coinciding with its hybrid Indie-Con Australia conference in Adelaide, this year's AIR Awards will take place on Thursday, August 5 at the Freemason Hall.

Among this year's nominees are Perth's Spacey Jane with four nods, as well as DMA's (three nominations), Gordi, Ball Park Music, Haiku Hands and Emma Donovan & The Putbacks (two nominations).
