AC/DC are set to kick off the Power Up tour in Melbourne on Wednesday night, and long-time promoter Christo Van Egmond has teased what fans can expect.

Speaking at a press conference at the MCG on Tuesday, per Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Christo Van Egmond said: “They did the soundcheck yesterday – you could feel the building shake. So it’s good! What a rock’n’roll show should be.”

The Power Up will be the first AC/DC tour Van Egmond has worked without his father, Garry Van Egmond, who died last year. His father took him to meet the band and crew when he was "a little kid, about nine years old".

“It’s an absolute rite of passage for every dad to take their kid to an AC/DC concert," Van Egmond said.

In 2010, AC/DC’s Black Ice Tour, produced by Van Egmond Group, became the fastest selling concert in Australian history selling over 520,000 tickets in under three hours, with the trek going on to sell over 760,000 tickets in Australia and New Zealand.

Then this past June, Ticketek recorded the largest tour on-sale day to date as well as the highest single-day ticket volume in the platform’s history for the Power Up tour, with in excess of 370,000 tickets sold, of which 320,000 were for AC/DC shows across multiple Australian cities.

“They’ve been on the road, done 60 shows and have performed in front of about 4 million people so far," Van Egmond said.

“It’s a well-oiled machine. The show’s just incredible, they are absolutely flying.”

It’s expected that 80,000 AC/DC fans will attend the MCG shows both Wednesday night and this coming Sunday.

The Power Up tour of Australia will then take AC/DC to Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane through November and December, with several new dates having to be added to the tour due to overwhelming demand.
