Five new shows have been added to 2021 Sounds Better Together, the concert series jointly presented by Mushroom Group and the Victorian Government.

Alex Lahey, Scott Darlow, The Living End, Pierce Brothers and Shannen James are among the new artists performing. They'll be playing at venues including St Kilda's Esplanade Hotel (aka The Espy), Castlemaine's Theatre Royal and The Forum in Melbourne.

The new acts join a previously-announced lineup which includes Jimmy Barnes, Tones And I, Missy Higgins, The Teskey Brothers, Daryl Braithwaite, Vika & Linda, Gordi, Didirri and Mia Wray.

2021 Sounds Better Together was revealed earlier this week and will run between January 23-30. The COVID-Safe, reduced capacity shows are spread across regional and metropolitan venues, and are designed to “get musicians back on stage” and support regional tourism.

"It’s another part of the extensive support we’ve provided to the tourism, creative and major events industries, which had a very challenging year last year," Victorian tourism minister, Martin Pakula, said at the time of the announcement.

"Our music industry supports thousands of jobs and injects millions into our economy, and we’re helping the sector get back on track.”

Tickets for the new shows go on sale at 12pm today, while tickets for previously announced gigs are on sale now.
