SOTD: Jimmy Barnes unveils hometown single penned by Troy Cassar-Daley
The country star wrote the song after finding inspiration from Barnes' book 'Working Class Boy'.

Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes has released a new single titled ‘Shutting Down Our Town’.
Taken from his next album My Criminal Record, the track is inspired by the closing down of the Holden factory in his hometown of Elizabeth, a northern suburb of Adelaide.
Troy Cassar-Daley wrote ‘Shutting Down Our Town’ for Barnes after finding inspiration from the book Working Class Boy.
“I changed a couple of words just because of local knowledge, but it was 99.999% Troy’s song," said Barnes. "...he played it to me and I immediately felt the connection.”
Triple M will premiere my new single 'Shutting Down Our Town' on Monday morning.
This song has a lot of personal meaning. My mate @troycassardaley wrote it after finding inspiration from my first book Working Class Boy.

Premiered on Triple M, the track has since been added across-the-board to Sydney and Melbourne stations, as well as the Triple M Regional network.
Barnesy's highest peak on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart came in 2005 when ‘Gonna Take Some Time’ hit #50.
That same year, he reached #4 on the TMN Country Chart with ‘Bird On A Wire’ alongside none other than Cassar-Daley.
