Whitney Houston is bossing the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart, almost eight years after her passing.

Her posthumous single, a Kygo-produced version of 'Higher Love', rises to a new peak of #7 in its fourth charting week.

The track continues its upward trajectory, following a #29 to #13 jump last week, and is also summiting the Dance Chart.

'Higher Love' is also Houston's first Hot 100 charting single, with her only other previous airplay success coming on the Urban Chart with 'I Look To You' ft. R. Kelly (2009).

The track rose six frames this week thanks to increased support from the Nova Network and Hit105, plus an addition to 97.3FM in Brisbane.

The original version of 'Higher Love' was released on Houston's 1990 album I'm Your Baby Tonight.

SME chief creative officer Clive Davis told Billboard the release of any posthumous music from Houston was all a matter of timing.

Houston's estate gave him a mandate; "...only release music that was special, contemporary and relevant.

"RCA and Legacy have always supported that point of view."

'Higher Love' is Kygo's fifth song to break the chart's Top 10.

"I was super happy with the results and obviously a little nervous to put it out as I didn’t know if people were going to like it," he said.

"But now seeing the reception, it feels amazing."
