OVERSEAS UNDER THE MICROSCOPE

Fans are remembering Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington after his tragic death last week as the band’s catalogue makes a charting resurgence.

In the U.K, nine of the band’s albums have entered the Top 100 in this week’s Official Chart Update, seven of which sit inside the Top 40.

The US sees four Linkin Park albums returning to the Billboard 200 with One More Light (#17), Hybrid Theory (#27), Meteora (#42) and Minutes To Midnight (#115).

Meanwhile, DJ Khaled has ended ‘Despacito’s reign at the top of the UK Singles Chart with his second #1 single ‘Wild Thoughts’ ft. Bryson Tiller and Rihanna. The track currently sits at #6 on TMN’s Hot 100 and climbing.

Rihanna is only the tenth act to claim nine or more #1’s on the UK Singles Chart, equalling notable acts such as Abba and Spice Girls.

THE HOME FRONT

It’s a similar story locally, with a host of Linkin Park albums/songs destined to land in amongst the Top 10 on the ARIA Charts next week.

Midweek numbers indicate a strong chance of four of the band’s albums landing in the Top 10, with a further five destined to move in to the Top 50.

After making ground on the ARIA Singles Chart this week, Imagine Dragon’s ‘Thunder’ will continue it’s ascent up the chart, gaining a Top 3 birth.

‘Despacito’ should remain at the top for an eleventh straight week, however Liam Payne’s ‘Strip That Down’ is pushing menacingly at #2. It’s reached the peak of the Hot 100 and could well topple the Latin crossover remix.

On to albums, there will be a major shake-up. Lana Del Rey’s Lust For Life will make a play at Ed Sheeran’s #1 position, as will Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory and One More Light. Sheeran may even fall out of the Top 3 completely.

CRYSTAL BALL PREDICTIONS

With the world consuming Linkin Park’s entire discography – back to front - at an incredible rate, 2017’s One More Light to nab Ed Sheeran’s #1 on the ARIA Albums chart, denying the Englishman his eighteenth week at the top.
