It’s a momentous week for Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes.

New cut ‘Shutting Down Our Town’ cracked the TMN Hot 100 at #91, marking Barnesy’s first chart entry as a solo artist since ‘Out In The Blue’ in 2007.

92.5 GOLD FM, Mix 94.5 and the national Triple M Network helped propel the song into the chart after teetering on the edge last week.

‘Shutting Down Our Town’ also sits at #3 on the TMN Contemporary Rock Chart behind Birds Of Tokyo’s ‘Good Lord’ and The Struts’ ‘Body Talks’.

Written by Troy Cassar-Daley, the track was inspired by the closing down of the Holden factory in Barnes’ hometown of Elizabeth, Adelaide.

With his band Cold Chisel, Barnes was last seen on the Hot 100 in 2015 with ‘Cold’. The single debuted and peaked at #76.
