Community radio shows a huge amount of support for Australian music, with almost 40% of music played coming from local artists. Taste-making presenters excel at giving airtime to an incredible spread of what Aussie artists have to offer. The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s getting airplay and attention on community radio each week. Here’s the lowdown on some tunes charting this week.

Press Club - #2 Amrap Metro & #6 Amrap Regional (Pictured Above)

This barnstormer from Melbourne’s Press Club is a good old fashioned slice of Oz pub rock streaked with 90s emo and no hints of any modern makeover. Ranking nicely on both the Metro and Regional charts, the guts n’ all quartet’s ode to suburban life is appropriately smashing it on Rox FM in South Australia as well as NSW’s Yass FM and Sydney’s 2RRR.

Oscar Key Sung - #3 Amrap Metro

Positioning his R&B moves into a realm of atmospheric dubstep-style rhythms with his new single ‘D.Y.T’, Oscar Key Sung is the most sensuous mover on the Amrap Metro charts this week. Radio Adelaide and RTR-FM in Perth currently just can’t get enough of OKS’s first song for 2018 where he’s really upped the ante on his sound and has many awaiting further instalments.

Jayne Denham - #6 Amrap Regional

‘Calamity’ is a roots-rockin’ stomper that doesn’t mess around and it’s taken country music star Jayne Denham into the Top 10 of the Amrap Regional chart. That comes as no surprise considering Denham has already had three #1s on the Australian Country Music charts. Phoenix FM in Bendigo, Tasmania’s Huon FM and Fraser Coast Community Radio are the community radio heartland for Denham’s dynamic brand of truckin’ tunes.

Mildlife - #5 Amrap Metro

The Melbourne band’s new album Phase often comes off like Stereolab making yacht rock and it’s a bottom-end heavy brew that’s wiggled its way into the Amrap Metro Top 5. ‘I’m Blau’ is a spacier-than-thou seven-minute number that’s full of cheer and bouncing through airwaves at FBi Radio in Sydney, Brisbane’s 4ZZZ and Melbourne’s 3RRR .

Holiday Party - #8 Amrap Regional

Brisbane duo Holiday Party have one of the sunniest singles shining on the AirIt site right now and regional community radio such as Nambucca Valley Radio and Mountain District Radio are dancing along to their tune. Their kaleidoscopic pop ways are backed with the kind of beat excursions The Avalanches paved their yellow brick road with and we expect Holiday Party to follow suit.
