Nominations are announced for the 2023 Australian Women In Music Awards (AWMAs), set for Sept. 27 in Meanjin/Brisbane.

The Australian Women in Music Awards now have a new category - the Women in Heavy Music Award.

When two people from the music industry - who are not gatekeepers, who are not on the boards of our industry bodies - win an award for change-making in music, something is seriously wrong.

The work will be performed live at the rescheduled AWMAs ceremony in Brisbane on May 18. 

A panel of high-powered female leaders will unpack the issues facing women in the creative sector. 

The AWMAs will shift from October to May, marking the second year in a row that the awards have been forced to postpone.
