Universal Music Australia Hosts Ignite Showcase With Katseye, Violet Grohl & Devon Again
Universal Music Australia brought some of the industry’s most buzzed about emerging acts to Sydney this week.

Universal Music Australia brought some of the industry’s most buzzed about emerging acts to Sydney this week for the fourth edition of Ignite, its annual showcase spotlighting priority international talent.
Held at Alexandria's the Grounds and hosted by media personality Bridget Hustwaite, the event featured performances from global girl group Katseye, rising singer-songwriter Violet Grohl, and alt-pop artist Devon Again.
Now in its fourth year, Ignite has become a key part of Universal Music Group’s artist development strategy, introducing developing international artists to the Australian market early in their careers. Previous editions of the showcase have featured acts including Olivia Dean, Sebastian Schub, and Sienna Spiro.
“Ignite has become an important platform for how we introduce and build international artist audiences in Australia,” Sean Warner, president and CEO of Universal Music Australia & New Zealand, said. “By bringing these acts into the market early, we are creating meaningful opportunities for them to connect with fans, media and partners at a pivotal stage in their careers. At the same time, it strengthens our ability to champion Australian artists globally through the same network.”
JJ Corsini, UMG’s executive vice president of global artist development, said the showcase is designed to build momentum for artists in key music markets like Australia. “What makes Ignite successful is the timing and intent behind it. We identify artists with global potential and provide them with a strong foundation in key music markets like Australia, creating awareness and inspiring passion amongst media and fans alike, while meaningfully connecting the artists with local culture."
Corsini also pointed to the success of previous Ignite alumni, noting that Olivia Dean’s appearance at last year’s Sydney showcase preceded her breakthrough in Australia over the following 12 months.
Leading this year’s lineup was Katseye, who arrived in Australia amid a major global rise. The now five-member group recently wrapped their first sold-out North American tour and debuted new single “PINKY UP” during their Coachella performance earlier this year.

The group were also named TikTok’s Global Artist of the Year and received two Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Gabriela". Their 2025 EP Beautiful Chaos debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, Violet Grohl showcased music from her forthcoming debut album Be Sweet to Me, due out May 29th. The Los Angeles artist recently began collaborating with acclaimed producer Justin Raisen, known for work with Charli XCX and Kim Gordon.
Also performing was Devon Again, whose glitchy, emotionally charged pop has earned a fast-growing following. Signed to Interscope Records in partnership with producer Dan Nigro’s Amusement Records, Devon Again is currently preparing to release her debut album.
“Katseye have already made a significant mark globally and bringing them to Australia for the first time speaks to the strength of Ignite in connecting artists with audiences at the right moment,” Corsini continued.
“Australia consistently shows up early for new music, building loyal and dedicated fanbases, which makes it a critical destination for every artist in the program.”
