Triple j's annual search to unearth future hitmakers returns

Now in its 13th year, triple j’s Unearthed High competition is back and looking to discover the next George Alice, Arno Faraji, Gretta Ray or Japanese Wallpaper.

2019 winner George Alice says Unearthed High helped kick start her career.

“I didn’t expect anything at all to come from unearthed high, I honestly just wanted to be a part of it and to hopefully learn a thing or two from experience!

"Not only did I meet so many great people along the way, but I get to do what I’ve always wanted to do and be who I really am.

"It’s still sinking in a year later, but winning Unearthed High really changed my life and gave me countless opportunities to succeed.”

This year's winner will receive "top-notch music industry advice" from the triple j team, who will then help the artist record their music to be played on triple j and its Unearthed digital station.

The best entry from an Indigenous artist will also win ongoing mentorship from the Association of Artist Managers and a songwriting workshop for their school by the APRA AMCOS.

Last year’s Indigenous winner, Aodhan, scored a writing session with his mentor Josh Pyke, resulting in their song collaboration ‘Drive’ being played on triple j and on Unearthed.

A new triple j Unearthed segment hosted by Unearthed alumni will air every Wednesday until August 26, featuring the best 2020 entries.
