2016 will be the year of Jack Garratt. The 24-year-old Brit is the winner of the coveted BBC Sound of 2016 poll (an award previously taken out by Sam Smith and Adele), was awarded the Critic’s Choice award at the BRIT’s, and is one of Spotify’s 2016 Spotlight artists. Moments like the slinking build of Breathe Life and the jagged switch at the 1:43 mark on Weathered are just a speck in the knotty artwork Garratt has created on debut album Phase. Perhaps its most endearing aspect though, is the fact every instrument you hear on the album is played by Garratt alone.
