For the first time, punters can now use PayPal to buy tickets across Ticketek’s platform in Australia.

Announced today, July 22nd, the two parties have struck a deal that adds PayPal as a payment method on the ticketing giant's Australian network.

Through the partnership, users in these parts will be able to pay with PayPal and access PayPal’s buy now, pay later (BNPL) solution “PayPal Pay in 4”, from within the PayPal checkout flow, across Ticketek.

"By integrating PayPal as a payment option on the Ticketek platform, we’re providing our customers with greater choice and convenience when purchasing tickets,” comments Cameron Hoy, Chief Operating Officer & Head of Global Ticketing, Ticketek Entertainment Group. “It reflects our commitment to enhancing the ticket buying experience through meeting the evolving preferences of our customers.”

Adds Simon Banks, Managing Director, PayPal Australia: “Our data shows that Australian consumers are over three times more likely to make a transaction when PayPal is offered at checkout, demonstrating the value the PayPal brand brings to this partnership.” With PayPal on Ticketek, reckons Banks, “fans can check out in as little as seconds.”

Part of the TEG Group, Ticketek shifts more than 20 million tickets to events in Australia and New Zealand each year, and the brand has expanded into Asia and the United Kingdom. It's one of more than 30 businesses under TEG’s global umbrella.

Earlier this year, Ticketek, through its data science and research division, Ovation, revealed that last summer captured the highest live event ticket sales in nearly a decade, with 2 million people buying tickets – representing over 6 million tickets sold across sports, gigs and more. The record-breaking result highlights “a significant surge in live event attendance,” according to the authors of the FanDX report.

Ticketek’s sister businesses includes TEG Live, TEG Dainty, TEG Van Egmond, TEG MJR, Laneway Festival, Handsome Tours, Qudos Bank Arena, and SXSW Sydney.
