Prolific and successful hit songwriter Diane Warren kicked off the MUSEXPO conference in Los Angeles with a keynote interview that gave an endearing look at her views on songwriting.
According to Music Week, she touched on:
Single-mindedly pursuing the dream:
“You’ve always got to prove the realists wrong.
“I never had any self-doubt and there was no plan B.
“It was this or become a bag lady.”

The current trend of multiple writers writing a hit:
“When I see eight to 10 writers on a song, I wonder, ‘What did you do? Get the coffee?’
“I’m not in those rooms, I refuse. It’s not my thing.”
Songwriting in the streaming age:
“What I do hasn’t changed.
“It’s all about the song, whether you stream it or buy it.
“It’s just a singes business again, like in the ‘60s.”
