The Voice semi-final pulls 1.267 million metro viewers

Last night’s semi-final episode of Nine Network’s The Voice drew 1.267 million metropolitan viewers. It was the highest non-news program of Sunday night.

The episode saw viewers choosing the four finalists, with two of the Madden Bros choices, 17-year-old surfer songwriter Nathan Hawes and 24-year-old busker Joe Moore, making it in. Also making it in was 16-year-old schoolgirl Ellie Drennan who was coached by Jessie J, and 23-year-old self taught guitarist Liam Maihi who was in Team Ricky Martin.

None of Delta Goodrem’s choices made it through after NSW teen Lyndall Wennekes’ surprise elimination. Her other semi-finalists Caleb Jago-Ward and Jessie J’s Simi Vuata, also left the show.

Tensions between the coaches spilled over, after Joel Madden correctly predicted the final four. Goodrem flashed back, “(Lyndall) has the voice, ease up tiger.” Madden shrugged back, “That was her best performance to date, but I think her voice and its capability….” and trailed off.

Co-host Sonia Kruger jumped in: “I feel like I’m at a Real Housewives reunion, stop it!”

This week’s winner gets a recording contract with Universal Music Australia, $100,000 cash, and a Ford Kuga Titanium.

Jessie J performed her new single Ain't Been Done last night and the judges took the stage to perform The Beatles' Let It Be (pictured).
