The Song Room Launches ‘The Bridge’ to Connect Music Creators with Classrooms Nationwide
Backed by Creative Australia, The Bridge connects artists with classrooms nationwide and introduces a new ambassador team.

The Song Room has unveiled a new national initiative aimed at reshaping how music creators engage with education, alongside announcing a high-profile ambassador lineup.
Backed by Creative Australia, 'The Bridge' will embed practising contemporary music creators directly into primary school classrooms, marking what the organisation describes as the first program of its kind in the country.
Rolling out in Term 2, the program is designed to create sustainable, paid career pathways for artists while delivering hands-on, contemporary music experiences to students.
To coincide with the launch, The Song Room has appointed artists trials, Ali McGregor and L-FRESH The LION as ambassadors, each advocating for greater access to arts education nationwide.
The Bridge will initially operate across five states, pairing music creators with specialist teaching artists to deliver programs in schools including Green Square Public School in Sydney, Redbank State School in Queensland, Hallett Cove East Primary School in South Australia, Orelia Primary School in Western Australia, and Darrang Primary School in Victoria.
ARIA Award-winning producer trials, who is leading the South Australian pilot, said the program is about ensuring young people have access to the same opportunities that shaped his own career.
“Music gave me the voice I needed to sound like myself,” he said. “The Bridge is about standing together to guarantee the next generation finds that same freedom.”

The initiative also aims to strengthen links between the music industry and education sectors by equipping artists with training, mentoring and paid placements, building a pipeline of professionals able to work across both fields.
The Song Room CEO Alice Gerlach said the program represents a long-term investment in both creative careers and young people.
“By investing in artists and bringing their practice into classrooms, we’re building skills, pathways and brighter futures,” she said.
Beyond its immediate rollout, The Bridge signals a broader shift in how the industry values creators, positioning them not only as performers, but as educators and cultural contributors shaping both future audiences and artists.
The Song Room partners with schools and communities across Australia to expand access to arts education, with a focus on delivering equitable opportunities for all students.
