Sony Music's local operation is under the microscope, with it US-based headquarters investigating claims of bullying and harassment within the Australian organisation.

The news emerged via Nathanael Cooper in Nine's mastheads over the long weekend, with Cooper revealing Sony Music's global head of human resources has contacted former and current employees as part of the investigation.

The Australian music industry has been under increased scrutiny for its insidious underbelly in recent months, with explosive claims across the board of mistreatment, assault, discrimination and bullying.

In April, it was revealed Sony Music Australia has sacked vice president of commercial music, Tony Glover, following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

Glover denied the allegations.

This latest reveal, however, is understood to be unrelated to Glover.

Industry bodies, ARIA, PPCA and APRA AMCOS have started making moves to address the industry's problems in this regard, hosting a meeting to address sexual harm, harassment and systemic discrimination within the industry's ranks. Its efforts are in the early stages and are ongoing.
