Sheppard, Glenn A Baker, Christine Anu, among latest for Hepmanns

The final list of performers and presenters for Act II have been announced.

Brisbane band Sheppard, music writer Glenn A Baker AM, singer Christine Anu, and comedian Anne Edmonds are added to the final list of performers and presenters for the Helpmann Awards.

They appear at the second (or Act II) of the Awards, held on Monday, July 16 at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney.

Sheppard will perform their new single Coming Home on the eve of a national tour.

Baker and Edmonds join the list of hosts that includes David Campbell, Tony Sheldon, Jacqueline Dark and Rafael Bonachela.

Other newly announced presenters for Act II include ballet royalty Marilyn Rowe CBE AM and David McAllister AM, actor Charles Wu, Michael Lynch CBE AO, The Hon Don Harwin MLC, Graeme Russell and musical theatre’s Amy Lehpamer.

Newly announced performers to be included in the night’s entertainment include actor Maggie Dence, and the SSO’s concert production of Funny Girl will now include Broadway and West End performers Caroline O’Connor and Trevor Ashley.

Guest presenters for the Helpmann Awards Act I on Sunday, July 15 at Sydney Town Hall, are actor Mitchell Butel, director Neil Armfield AO, musical theatre identities Verity Hunt Ballard, Matt Lee and Sharon Millerchip, choreographer Kelley Abbey, actor Peter Carroll and musical directors Vanessa Scammell and Max Lambert.

They join hosts Rhoda Roberts AO and Michael Lynch CBE AO.

The Helpmann Awards Act II will broadcast from the Capitol Theatre on ABC on Monday, July 16 at 9.35pm.

Highlights from the previous night, Act I, will also be part of the broadcast.

The Helpmans cover contemporary music, musicals, comedy, opera and classical music, theatre, ballet, dance and physical theatre, presentations for children, regional touring and cabaret.

They are supported by the NSW government, via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
