Sean Combs' mother has issued a forceful rebuttal to claims made in Netflix's documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, calling allegations of abusive parenting "untrue" and demanding public retractions of what she describes as "inaccuracies."

As per Rolling Stone, Janice Combs released a statement on Saturday disputing multiple claims featured in the docuseries, particularly those suggesting she was an "abusive parent" to her son. She characterised the documentary's portrayal of their family life as "intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation."

"As I have stated previously, I was a single mother, raising my son, I held three and even four jobs in an attempt to provide a comfortable upbringing and quality education for my child," Combs said in her statement. "I raised Sean with love and hard work, not abuse."

The statement specifically targeted comments made by Tim Patterson, described as an alleged childhood friend of Sean Combs, whose portrayal of Janice's relationship with her son she dismissed as "not truthful and salacious to promote the series." She countered these claims by describing Sean as "a respectful and a diligent child and teenager" who had always been "an industrious, goal oriented, over achiever."

Janice Combs also addressed allegations made by Kirk Burrowes, co-founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, who claimed in the documentary that Sean once slapped his mother. She categorically denied this allegation, calling it "inaccurate and patently false."

"The allegations stated by Mr. Kirk Burrows [sic] that my son slapped me while we were conversing after the tragic City College events on December 28, 1991, are inaccurate and patently false," she stated.

Burrowes had also alleged in the docuseries that Combs charged the Notorious B.I.G.'s funeral expenses back to the rapper's estate while publicly presenting himself as personally funding the arrangements.

Janice Combs painted a contrasting picture of her son, describing him as a "dutiful son" who has provided ongoing financial support and assistance with her medical care. Her statement concluded with a direct request for "these distortions, falsehoods and misleading statements to be publicly retracted."
