A music festival in Queensland this weekend is spearheading a push for visitors to get vaccinated in the fight against COVID-19, going so far as to have a vaccination hub on site.

The vaccine will be on offer from 8:00am to 4pm on Friday, October 1 on site at the Savannah In The Round festival featuring John Butler (pictured above), John Williamson, Lee Kernaghan, Adam Brand, Sneaky Sound System, Troy Cassar-Daley, Casey Barnes, Busby Marou and more.

Event director James Dein said creating a festival in the middle of a pandemic is no easy task, and vaccination is the key to freedom.

"We have worked hard for over two years now on ensuring our COVID plan is best practice, and while we're proud of the event we'll be delivering to the Tropical North tis weekend, we are urging our patrons to join us in getting the jab, so that normal life can be just around the corner."

Tourism Tropical North Queensland chief executive, Mark Olsen, added that Savannah in the Round was giving country music fans a compelling reason to holiday in the region.

"A dose of great Aussie music combined with a week or more exploring the accessible outback, the Great Barrier Reef and the world's oldest rainforrest will help beat the pandemic blues," he suggested.

The festival will also host an Indigenous cultural program, community entertainment, local produce and goods, and a range of accomodation options.
