ABC Country has revealed the new host of Saturday Night Country, following the departure of Beccy Cole.

Singer-songwriter Melody Moko will join the network as the new host, with her first program airing on Saturday, March 7th from 9pm (AEDT).

Moko has carved out a reputation for her candid songwriting and honest storytelling across her career. Offstage, she’s been a committed advocate for women, gender diverse and emerging artists, as well as mentoring rising local talent as a Group Leader at the CMAA Academy of Country Music. She has also produced the podcasts Parenting Done Rightish and Woman Enough, performed at the Golden Guitar Awards, showcased at Americana Fest in Nashville, and toured with artists including Don Walker, Troy Cassar-Daley, and Fanny Lumsden.

"As a lifelong listener of the show, it's an honour to be trusted with taking this role on," she said of her appointment.

"Beccy’s boots are some big ones to fill, and I look forward to strapping on my own version of them and doing her proud. Saturday Night Country has a huge legacy, I hope to honour that and I'm excited to be offered the chance to share my love for the show, and country music with the listeners.”

She replaces Beccy Cole, who announced her departure earlier this month, after five years in the role. "I feel it’s time to make room for a new voice. I have enjoyed presenting the program during the great country music boom and I am musically richer for all the artists I have discovered and immersed myself in during my time at ABC Country,” she said at the time.

Cole's final show will be this Saturday, February 28th from 9pm (AEDT).
