Budding professional musicians are in luck as the SAE Creative Media Institute has launched both a new music degree and scholarship.

That's right, SAE is now offering a new Bachelor of Songwriting and Music Production degree at five of its Australian campuses.

The fast-tracked two-year course offers students a unique learning experience that will involve being guided through every stage of the songwriting and music production process, including mixing and mastering.

As if that wasn't enough, SAE is celebrating the launch of the music degree by offering the chance to apply for a full-tuition scholarship worth up to $67,000.

Veteran musician and Program Chair, Dr Clive Harrison said in a statement that he is excited to be at the helm of the course.

“This degree will produce graduates who are agile in their response to current musical trends, and have the depth of knowledge to respond with songs of their own that capture the style and important elements of current music production, but that also resonate with the audience,” Harrison said.

“To maximise their job opportunities, students need skills in audio, traditional songwriting and digital audio workstations. Industry employers are not only looking for the practical skills, but the people skills as well.”

Students of the new course will also get the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different disciplines, in order to develop skills in writing music for games, television, short films, animations, songs and more.

It's safe to say those who choose to attend SAE will be in good company, given it counts the likes of Sampa The Great, Taya; Godlands; and ARIA winner Chelsea Cullen among its graduates.

The fast-tracked Bachelor of Songwriting and Music Production degree is currently taking enrolments for May 2021 at SAE's Brisbane, Byron Bay, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth campuses.
