Apple has appointed Rebekah Horne as its new head of Music and other services in Australia and New Zealand.

She is the director for Apple Music, Apple News, Apple Books, iTunes and the App Store for both countries.

Horne was most recently chief digital and data officer at the National Rugby League (NRL), a role she had for 2½ years.

Horne has been an important figure in Australia’s transformation to the digital space.

She was the first Australian employee for MySpace, a position she held for five years when the social media and music platform was owned by Fox Interactive Media from 2006 to 2011.

Horne then went on to become GM of MySpace in Europe and Australia, and then managing director and senior vice president of MySpace International.

After leaving MySpace in 2011, she was chief digital officer at DMG Australia, and then CEO of e-commerce service, Topfloor, a Los Angeles-based start-up backed by Google Ventures that delivered content-driven sales events into social media streams.

She spent three years as Ten’s chief digital officer (2013—16) where she launched video streaming service Ten Play.

She grew Ten’s digital revenue by 74% and yield by 27% during her tenure.

She moved to the NRL in February 2016 just as it struck a new broadcast deal which allows it and its clubs to keep revenue from digital sources.

In March 2016 she was named the first-ever Australian chief digital officer of the year by the CDO Club.
