Bluesfest has announced the first round of artists sideshows that will coincide with the festival's 2019 run.

The front-runners are Grammy-award winner singer Ray LaMontagne and Parliament Funkadelic featuring George Clinton. Both acts will perform sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney, with this Australian tour being the last for Clinton.

Other acts included in sideshow announcements Nahko And Medicine For The People, Arlo Guthrie, I’m With Her, Keb’Mo’, Trevor Hall, Vintage Trouble, Larkin Poe and The California Honeydrops.

The festival drew criticism last month due to its initial lineup announcement being overwhelmingly male, to which Bluesfest director Peter Noble told TMN, "We book artists on their drawing ability so we can sell as many tickets as possible.

“We also book them based on the responses to our surveys about the acts that the audience want to see.”

Tickets to Bluesfest 2019 are on sale now; for more information, click here.
