Niche Talent Agency signs Roland Tings

Niche Talent Agency has signed electronic artist Roland Tings, as he returns after a reclusive 18-month hiatus writing music in regional Victoria.

It follows the signing of Australian/UK electro duo Antony & Cleopatra last week.

The agency has booked him on five DJ shows in late autumn behind his new single ‘Hiding In The Bushes’.

Made with drumming collaborator Ryan D’Sylva, the track combines live drums with digital synths.

He explains, “I made this track when I was living in alone a house I rented on the Great Ocean Road two hours away from Melbourne, in the Otway National Park, for almost 18 months.

“I was spending a lot of time by myself, working on music all day every day.”

He was totally isolated except when his partner joined him on weekends.

“I loved this image, the idea of getting away from the city to focus on art, but going way too far. Losing track of reality and going right off the deep end.

His DJ shows are Revolver Melbourne (May 3), Newcastle Hotel (11), Rocket Bar, Adelaide (18), Proud Mary’s, Central Coast (25) and Sydney TBA (June 22).
