A triple j presenter has been appointed ABC News 24's new Music Correspondent and will also co-host the program's weekly music news segment.

Mornings presenter Lucy Smith and ABC Pacific/Radio Australia presenter and Rolling Stone Australia contributor Sose Fuamoli will share the segment, giving audiences the latest in music news, releases, tours and industry news.

Smith will be reporting from Sydney, while Fuamoli will join from Melbourne, alternating each week. They take over from Double J and ABC TV presenter Zan Rowe who hosted the segment on the daily morning breakfast TV program for the past decade.

Smith has also been appointed the program's Music Correspondent and was excited to be involved in 'The Beat Report'. It will continue to air on ABC News 24 on Wednesdays at 7.45am.

"This is a long-standing segment which Zan Rowe started 10 years ago, and it's an honour to continue these conversations about music in a dedicated time slot. They're important and deserve platforming!" she said.

"I'm stoked to be doing this fortnightly with Sose, she's a total pro, oozes cool and clarity, and has lead some incredible conversations in the industry.”

Rowe is remaining as Friday mornings presenter on Double J and continuing her award-winning Take 5 podcast and ABC TV program.
