Netflix's 'KPop Demon Hunters' Captures ARIA Chart Crown
"KPop Demon Hunters" becomes the first soundtrack from an animated film to hit No. 1 in more than eight years.

Finally, KPop Demon Hunters catch their quarry. After three weeks, the soundtrack to the animated Netflix hit climbs to the top of the ARIA Chart, published Friday, July 11th, rising 2-1.
KPop Demon Hunters (via Republic/Universal) becomes the first soundtrack from an animated film to hit No. 1 in more than eight years, the last being Trolls, which squatted at the top for weeks in early 2017, ARIA reports. Also, it's the first soundtrack to reach the summit since 2023, when Barbie The Album spent two weeks there.
A Netflix film from Sony Pictures Animation, KPop Demon Hunters follows Kpop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey, who, in their downtime, use their secret identities as kickarse demon hunters to protect their fans from an ominous supernatural threat.
As the story follows our heroes, they confront their biggest enemy yet – an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.
The collection swaps places with Lorde’s Virgin (Universal/EMI), which dips 1-2 in its second week on the ARIA Chart, while Sabrina Carpenter's double-platinum certified Short n' Sweet (Island/Universal) improves 4-3.
FANGZ snag a top 10 debut with Shui, the Sydney punk rock band’s first full-length album. Independently released, Shui opens at No. 8, the hottest start for any title on the latest tally, and indeed the only new release studio album on the latest frame. It’s also the only homegrown release in the ARIA Top 50.
FANGZ are led by Josh Cottreau, who in 2023 attempted to crack a Guinness World Record for most hard-boiled eggs eaten in one sitting. They’re currently four shows deep into a 10-date tour. Thankfully, the frontman’s egg gorging is a thing of the past.

Oasis fever is sweeping the UK, and its impact can be measured half a world away. The band’s greatest hits compilation, Time Flies… 1994-2009 (BB3/Sony), a former leader in the UK, reenters the ARIA Chart at No. 50 and the Britpop-era heavyweights’ second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? is sitting just outside the top 50, according to ARIA.
Noel and Liam Gallagher have buried the hatchet for the OASIS LIVE '25 world tour, which has got underway in the British Isles and will visit Australia in October and November, for a run of dates produced by Live Nation.
Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” (Atlantic/Warner) extends its reign to 16 consecutive weeks. No Australian-made singles appear in the ARIA Top 50.
