Melbourne-based music publisher Native Tongue has announced the launch of their new boutique record label, Best & Fairest.

Former Liberator/[PIAS] and V2/ Cooperative label manager Neil Robertson has been brought on in the role of general manager and will oversee the day-to-day running of the label.

“Whilst entering the label world has always been a temptation, we didn’t want to do so without the right person at the helm," said Native Tongue managing director Jaime Gough.

"We have found that in Neil, and I have no doubt Best & Fairest will play a key role in developing sustainable careers for its artists.

"Our setup enables us to offer artist friendly and flexible deals, which in today’s climate is paramount to a healthy working relationship.”

The label's first signing is The Veils frontman Finn Andrews, whose debut solo album is slated for upcoming release.

“We’re open to working with artists of all different levels of ambition, following various paths to reach their goals, whatever they may be," says Robertson.
