MusicNSW has wrapped up its Sound Advice grant writing three-part video series, releasing the final clip yesterday.

In its third and final instalment, host Sara Khan discusses the dos and don'ts of talking about your project in a grant application.

The first Sound Advice video was released in August. The third clip in the series follows on from previous videos covering tips for grant writing and how to break down a budget for a grant proposal.

Sound Advice is financially supported by Create NSW and APRA AMCOS. In a statement, MusicNSW managing director Emily Collins said the music industry is less known for its philanthropic funding compared to other arts scenes, which is why this series was created.

"The music industry has traditionally operated in the commercial space and so doesn't have a long history of philanthropy and funding – certainly not compared to other art forms," she said.

"This resource suite is aimed at improving the grant literacy of our industry, helping our artists and professionals take advantage of new funding opportunities."

Budget templates, draft support letters, funding calendars and more are also available on MusicNSW's website.
