Mardi Caught, Rhoda Roberts Join MusicNSW Board

Mardi Caught, Rhoda Roberts, Michael Hutchings and Beau Neilson are among the new appointments to the MusicNSW board.

Mardi Caught, Rhoda Roberts, Michael Hutchings and Beau Neilson are among the new appointments to the MusicNSW board.

Announced Thursday, July 4, the incoming music industry professionals join continuing members Julian Knowles (chair), Jane Slingo (deputy chair), Kristy Wilson (treasurer) and Vic McEwan.

At the same time, Emily Nicol and Kathryn Holloway conclude their six-year tenures as board members.

In a statement, Knowles welcomes Caught (founder The Annex), Roberts (First Nations advisor for Vivid Sydney), Hutchings (head of First Nations programming at the Sydney Opera House) and Neilson (creative director and executive producer Phoenix Central Park), whose collective "expertise will be instrumental in our mission to drive the advancement of a thriving NSW music industry that is creative, innovative, resilient, diverse and internationally competitive."

The incoming music industry professionals bring "an incredible wealth of experience and a unique perspective that will be invaluable as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead in the music industry," he adds.

Knowles also thanks Nicols and Holloway, noting their contributions "have been critical to shaping the support that MusicNSW has been able to provide local artists and industry and we will carry that legacy into the future."

Meanwhile, the trade body launches a new board observership program, which provides an opportunity for three people to gain experience in not-for-profit governance, leadership and organisational strategy.

Those observers selected for the program will include one person who identifies as First Nations, one based in regional NSW and one young person (aged 18 - 24 years), with each attending board meetings over a 12-month period and being mentored by board members throughout the year.

Beau Neilson

A not-for-profit organisation funded by Create NSW, MusicNSW is the state music body for New South Wales. Its mission: to empower and connects artists and industry through a variety of programs and services, including Sound Advice, our Regional team and Touring Network and First Nations Music Development.
