New podcast, 'Music Saved Me', discusses addiction and mental health with musicians

Australian musicians Paul Dempsey, Illy and Graace are featured on the new music podcast Music Saved Me. The podcast is created by youth charity Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD).

Hosted by Danny Clayton, Music Saved Me will be a string of personal interviews with musicians, exploring how they use music to deal with loss, addiction and preserving culture. Other artists interviewed include Eves Karydas, Mitch Tambo, L-FRESH The LION and Conrad Sewell.

The first four episodes of the podcast have been released, with a new episode released each Wednesday for the next month. The series will wrap up with the final two episodes on December 4, dubbed Musicians Making A Difference Day.

MMAD co-founder Dominic Brook said the kinds of conversations featured in the new podcasts are needed more than ever.

"We were blown away by how much each artist brought to their chat with Danny and opening up about such personal stories," he said in a statement.

"It really is a special insight into these artists and how or why their art is shaped and created. We hope this podcast can inspire people out there who might be going through a tough time right now and help them realise they are not alone."

The new podcast follows on from MMAD's previous show, Rhyme & Reason, shared in 2018. The series dicussed topics of addiction, mental health and social media with a range of musicians including Dustin Tebbutt,  E^ST and Bliss & Eso.
