In one of the more light-hearted ARIA Week events, the stalwarts of Australian dance music will face off in Australia’s first official 5-a-side football tournament for the music industry, Música Copa.

Teams from Stereosonic, Modular, Future Classic, Ministry Of Sound, Sweat It Out, Channel [V], Mushroom Group, FBi Radio and InTheMix will compete for glory, and charity on Thursday December 5 at Marrickville’s industrial KIKOFF complex. Members of Van She, Canyons, What So Not, Rufus, Movement and Yolanda Be Cool will be peppering the teams, with other players revealed in coming weeks.

"We have always wanted to host a 5-a-side tournament for the industry and after discovering so many of our label and artist friends shared our passion for football, Musica Copa was born", organiser Paul Stix (Modular) told TMN. "We’re looking forward to a great day of football, trash talking and networking, with the charity element giving teams the opportunity to give something back to those people who need it most."
