Masked Wolf ranked #1 for Spotify monthly listener growth in first half of 2021
The Australian rapper's monthly listener count rose from one million to 24 million in the span of six months.

A new report has revealed that Masked Wolf's monthly Spotify listener growth has surpassed that of any other artist this year.
According to Chartmetric's six-month Breakthrough report, the Australian rapper's monthly listeners on the streaming platform rose from one million to 28 million between December 2020 and May 2021, with the bump in listeners being attributed to his viral TikTok hit 'Astronaut in the Ocean'.
The Sydney-based hip-hop artist was also ranked second for YouTube channel view growth within the same period, rising from five million views in January to now boast over 380 million channel views.
Masked Wolf also experienced a significant bump in streams on Pandora, coming in at #10 for the app's stream count growth within the first half of 2021.
Artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Måneskin, Bugzy Malone, Blackpink and Playboi Carti were also named alongside Masked Wolf for their own month-on-month streaming growth.
Other platforms studied throughout the report included TikTok, Shazam, Instagram, Twitter and Wikipedia, with Chartmetric also exploring the distribution of gender pronouns on music platforms to demonstrate the prevalence of inequity and a greater need for representation in the music industry.
Earlier this month, Masked Wolf's 'Astronaut in the Ocean' received an unexpected endorsement from Barack Obama when the track appeared in the former US President's coveted Summer Playlist.
