Louis Tomlinson has released the music video for his new single "Lemonade", delivering a surreal visual experience that matches the track's trippy sonic landscape.

The video dropped on Monday, showcasing the former One Direction member in a lemon-yellow fever dream that blurs the lines between reality and hallucination.

The clip begins with Tomlinson enduring a gruelling photo shoot under scorching heat, sweat beading on his face as the temperature becomes unbearable. Growing increasingly agitated by the oppressive conditions, he abandons the shoot and stumbles into what appears to be a surreal estate populated by mysterious lemon-yellow figures.

These otherworldly beings guide him through a bizarre landscape that culminates in an unexpected sock puppet show, creating a dreamlike sequence that perfectly complements the song's disorienting lyrics. "She got me wakin' at times that I've never seen / Bright yellow spaceship might make me start to believe," Tomlinson sings, his vocals floating over the track's ambitious sonic palette.

The video's climax sees the singer breaking free from his trance-like state by diving fully clothed into a swimming pool, the cool water providing both literal and metaphorical clarity as he escapes the yellow-tinged madness that had consumed him.

Speaking about the track's creation, Tomlinson emphasised the importance of making a bold statement with his first single from the upcoming era.

"The most important thing was for the first single to sound ambitious sonically. It had to be big and fun," he explained. "To me, 'Lemonade' really has instant and natural personality. It ended up being the perfect way to begin this chapter."

The release coincides with Tomlinson's announcement of his 2026 world tour, which will support his forthcoming album How Did I Get Here?. The extensive arena tour promises to be his most ambitious live undertaking yet, with confirmed stops at iconic venues including New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Reflecting on the creative process behind his new material, Tomlinson described the upcoming album as "the record I always deserved to make." He continued: "My bread and butter is my honesty. I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope it comes through in the music... For the first time now, I'm allowing myself to be the artist I'd always hoped to be."
