Leaked handwritten documents uncover plans for Michael Hutchence’s unreleased music

An investigation by Four Corners has reportedly uncovered a deal between Sydney tech entrepreneur Ron Creevey and Michael Hutchence's former lawyer, Colin Diamond to profit from Hutchence’s unreleased intellectual property.

Four Corners has been working in partnership with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. The investigation has seen the journalists review more than 13 million documents obtained by German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung.

According to the detailed report, which can be read in full here, Diamond took possession of the diary and song lyrics Hutchence left in a Double Bay hotel room 20 years ago, where he took his life.

Those possessions were used in the recent Channel 7 documentary, The Last Rockstar due to the establishment of Helipad Plain, a company launched in the tax haven of Mauritius.

In his interview with Four Corners, Creevey claims he did not profit from the documentary: “No money ever has flowed from Seven to any of the companies I am related to,” he said.

Channel 7 told Four Corners it did not pay for any of the material used in the documentary but did agree to promote unreleased music by Michael Hutchence that was owned by Diamond.

However, a “prospectus” later deemed incorrect by Creevey, detailed plans for 15 unreleased songs, including a re-release of a digitally remixed solo album and a full-length feature film called ‘The Loved One’.
