Jonas Brothers have sold a portion of their music catalogue to their father, Kevin Jonas Sr., after he emerged victorious in a competitive bidding war.

As per Billboard, the investment arm of the elder Jonas' talent management company, Jonas Group Entertainment Holdings, has acquired the publishing and recording rights to the band's three most recent albums: The Album, Happiness Begins, and their upcoming seventh studio album, Greetings From Your Hometown.

The deal also encompasses one-off singles "Like It's Christmas" and "Remember This", though the purchase amount remains undisclosed.

Kevin Jonas Sr. made a heartfelt pitch to his sons Joe, Nick, and Kevin, appealing to his deep connection with their music: "I don't know that anybody can love your music any more than I do or be any more proud of you," he told them. "I am not asking for less than the purchase price but for consideration of the passion I'll bring to keeping your legacy thriving."

The brothers described the deal as a "full circle" moment in their career. "We are passionate about songwriting and the creative process, and Leslie DiPiero [Jonas Group Publishing president] has always been a true champion for songwriters and creators," the band said in a statement to Billboard. "We look forward to working with her and the team."

This father-son business arrangement carries a certain poetic resonance, especially considering lyrics from their 2023 single "Waffle House", where they reflected on their family dynamic: "Headstrong father and a determined mother / Oh, that's why some nights we tried to kill each other / But you know it's always love."

Jonas Sr. predicted the collaboration with the trio would be "easy" given their familial connection. He previously managed the group alongside Phil McIntyre during their early career.

Importantly, the Jonas Brothers still retain ownership of their first four albums. Their 2006 debut, It's About Time, was initially released on Columbia Records, who later dropped the band and surrendered the master recordings. The three subsequent albums — including A Little Bit Longer and Lines, Vines and Trying Times — were released through Disney's Hollywood Records.

When the band parted ways with Disney in 2012, they negotiated to take their masters with them. Nick explained at the time: "This was a decision that we made as a group. Naturally, as with any partnership, when you do part ways, there is emotion tied to it.

"We've been blessed to have a lot of success with Hollywood and with Disney, but speaking on behalf of my brothers and our team, we're all looking forward to this next chapter. We're ready for that next step as a group, and being able to take our work with us was so important."
