Following a posthumous sweep of the National Indigenous Music Awards, Gurrumul continues to make history with his documentary of the same name becoming the seventh highest grossing Australian doco of all time.

After a huge 17-week cinema run, GURRUMUL has taken over $970,000 in profits and continues to play on screens across the country. It also holds the coveted 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.

Gurrmul's final album Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow) was the first ever album in an Indigenous language to hit #1 on the ARIA Album Chart and is set to be released on vinyl this Friday (August 24).

“It is significant that Australia has opened its mind and its heart to this important release,” said producer and friend Michael Hohnen.

Djarimirri is not just an album of songs, it’s an historical document. To see his vision coming to life and for his work to be creating understanding of the beauty in his culture would make him very happy. It is on many levels the completion of his life’s work."

GURRUMAL will be available on DVD from August 30, pre-orders for the vinyl pressing of Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow) are open now, for more information head here.
