Kirin Ichiban has revealed the 'Listening Room', an intimate music experience to be hosted by legendary broadcast, DJ, and tastemaker Gilles Peterson.

Taking place on November 16th, 2025, at the Ivy Penthouse, the event will bring together purity of sound and taste in a intimate, high-fidelity setting. What will start in a bespoke chill-out lounge will descend into the dedicated Listening Room, where Peterson will present a 30-minute session of vinyl selections drawn from his personal collection.

Known worldwide as a tireless champion of vinyl culture and new music discovery, Peterson has spent decades elevating the art of listening, from radio waves to festival stages. Whether crate-digging in Tokyo or headlining his own Worldwide Festival in France, his sets are known to be immersive journeys through music's most inspired corners.

Peterson said: "I’m excited to be working with Kirin Ichiban on this special listening event while I’m in Sydney, and looking forward to introducing and sharing a few of my favourite records in an intimate setting on the Atlas Harmonic sound system."

Over the years, he has introduced generations of listeners to groundbreaking artists and sounds from across the globe. His curatorial reach spans jazz, soul, hip hop, electronica, and beyond, all connected by his deep respect for craftsmanship and sound purity.

The event will be hosted by premium Japanese beer Kirin Ichiban, which similarly respects craftsmanship in its own right. Framed as a "temple of sound purity", the Listening Room will invite audiences to hear music in its most faithful form, in a space designed for listening without distraction.

“Kirin Ichiban is brewed using First Press methodology, leaving consumers with a pure tasting beer, a reflection of Japanese craftsmanship and quality. Through this collaboration with Gilles Peterson, we’re bringing that philosophy to life in a rich cultural experience that people can truly engage with, where purity of sound and taste meet in a space designed for deep listening, connection, and appreciation,” said Andie Tickner, Kirin Ichiban cultural collaborations leader.

A strictly limited number of music fans will have the chance to attend this special event, with entries available exclusively through Kirin Ichiban’s social channels.
