Triple J faves Choomba have signed with EMI Music.

Hailing from Tasmania, the electronic duo (cousins Christian and Tim Benson) is coming off a pair of belters in 2020's ‘La Luh’ and this year’s ‘Say It,’ which bagged ‘Most Played’ status on triple j back in March.

Radio and Choomba have a good thing going. The producers were recently tapped to succeed The Aston Shuffle on triple J’s Friday night dance show, completing the veteran floor fillers' 11-year stint.

With the Tassie lads at the mic and the wheels of steel, triple j’s dance music show will be revamped as The Nudge, going out every Friday night from 10pm, starting Aug. 27.

“We feel lucky having Choomba joining the EMI roster and trusting us with the next steps,” comments Mark Holland, General Manager A&R, EMI Music.

There’s fresh Choomba tunes on the way.

The rising pair are “poised to become the next elite electronic act hailing from Australia with global ambition alongside their sharp managerial confidant, Gabe Bravo from Cloak Entertainment,” adds Holland. “Can’t wait to get these tunes out in the wild.”

Choomba got moving in 2019 with a self-released debut EP, which culminated in a support slot with Claude Von Stroke and Unearthed Feature Artist status.

Signing with EMI “feels pretty surreal because we haven't really properly got to experience it with all the COVID restrictions,” the artists explain in a statement, “but yeah we're just happy to now have a team around us to help step the project up.”
