Aussie rock legends Cold Chisel have once again proved their status as legends of the game, scoring their first #1 album in over 21 years.

Way back in 1982, Cold Chisel released their fourth album, Circus Animals. The follow-up to the previous year's East, this new record did one better than its predecessor, giving the group their first-ever #1 album on the Aussie charts.

While Twentieth Century would follow the trend, 1998's The Last Wave Of Summer would serve as their last studio album in 14 years, and their 2012 and 2015 records would peak at a respectable number two.

However, with the group releasing Blood Moon just over a week ago, they've now returned to their rightful spot atop the charts, debuting at #1 with their ninth record.

“We are really excited by Blood Moon hitting # 1 on the ARIA chart – an incredible 21 years after our last one,” explained frontman Jimmy Barnes.

“We never take anything for granted, so huge thanks to our loyal army of fans who have helped make this happen. We love Blood Moon – it’s our best collection of songs since the ‘80s.”

In related news, while Cold Chisel are set to head out on a headline tour kicking off on New Year's Eve, mysterious outfit The Barking Spiders have also announced a rare headline show for a few days prior.

While rumours have always circulated that the band are in fact Cold Chisel in disguise, neither outfit have confirmed or denied the rumours, meaning that you might just need to turn up to put this mystery to bed.
