Albany born singer-songwriter Carla Geneve has taken out the Overall Grand Prize for the WAM Song Of The Year.

Her debut single 'Greg's Discount Chemist' was awarded the top going for 2018/19 at new Perth live music venue Freo.Social overnight.

The MC on the night was WAM Award winner and Perth-hailing Odette Mercy, while there were also performances by Pat Chow, Tara Tiba and Flewnt, nominee Echo Adore, and Rhubarb Records DJs.

Carla Geneve pipped Runner-Up Flewnt with their track 'Kya Kyana', while Second Runner-Up went to 'Elephants' by Riley Pearce.

Flewnt took out three awards in total, also winning Outstanding Indigenous and Urban/Hip Hop.

“WAM’s Song of the Year just seems to get stronger each year with the quality and number of entries in 2019 blowing all our minds," said WAM CEO Mike Harris.

"I don’t judge the songs and for that I am grateful as picking winners from this field would have been very tough. Grand Prize winner Carla Geneve is an incredible talent with an enviable future in music.
