‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ hot on heels of highest grossing music biopic of all time

Bohemian Rhapsody has grossed US$128 million at the US box office so far. It's passed Walk the Line on the all-time list, the Johnny Cash biopic that grossed US$119 million after its release in 2005.

Now, Bohemian Rhapsody has moved into second place on the list of all-time highest-grossing music biopics in the US.

It's now US$33 million behind the #1 highest-grossing music biopic, the 2015-released Straight Outta Compton, which made US$161 million for its retelling of the legend and loss behind N.W.A.

Just three weeks since its release Bohemian Rhapsody has grossed US$384 million, with US$256 million coming from overseas sales.

Bohemian Rhapsody has its work cut out for it to top the list however, the film had an overall production budget of US$52 million, whereas Straight Outta Compton's overall budget was $US34 million.
