Birds of Tokyo received plaques from EMI Music’s managing director John O’Donnell and his team for the double-Platinum sales of their ‘Good Lord’ single.

It was the most played Australian artists only track in Q2 2019.

The band’s manager, John Watson of Eleven, said, “Darryl Bailey and the EMI team did a great job of finding some key early radio believers for ‘Good Lord’.

“To their full credit, those programmers backed this song long before they had any data to support their intuitions.

“The fact that ‘Good Lord’ went on to strike such a big chord across all platforms shows that even in this increasingly reactive business there’s still more than one way of a song becoming a hit."

Birds of Tokyo just wound up their sold-out ‘Good Lord’ concert tour, playing full houses all over the country.

They also played 9’s AFL Grand Final football show and 7’s Sunrise Grand Final breakfast TV show.
