Seven to revive Australia's Got Talent after COVID-19 pause

Australia's Got Talent will be back on television next year on Channel 7, with the 'Challengers & Champions' format finally getting a run.

The show was meant to go to air this year, fronted by former Australian Idol contestant, performer and media identity, Ricki-Lee Coulter. Sonia Kruger, Shane Jacobsen, Manu Feildel, Olympia Vallance, and Kyle Sandilands had been confirmed to appear on the program.

It was one of the many programs, however, which faced a production pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the Seven Network's Upfronts presentation today - where it revealed its upcoming content offering, including the return of Australian Idol - Coulter said AGT would finally be back in 2021.

She did not, however, name the other personalities who would be on the show, simply saying she would be joined by  "superstar judges".

The should will be "bigger than ever before", Seven said.

"In 2021, nothing's going to stop us bringing you the world's number one entertainment format," the network said.

"Some of the best acts in the country will take on the greatest 'Got Talent' champions from around the planet.

"This is a world-class entertainment event. With a healthy dose of those weird and surprising AGT moments we all love.

"Superstar judges. Incredible talent. With a national average audience reach of 8.6 million in 2019, get set for this global phenomenon in 2021."

Seven was also coy on who will front the judging panel for The Voice which it recent poached from Channel 9.

Host Kruger teased the line-up at multiple points throughout the presentation, but said the social hype and chatter was making the waiting game worth it.

Thus far there has been speculation Coulter, Tones and I, Kylie Minogue and Keith Urban, and even Mariah Carey are joining the judging panel.
