Tamworth radio station 2TM has announced a new weekly country music countdown show.

Since its inception in October last year, the 2TM Australian Country Music Top 20, which is released each Thursday morning, has become a staple for fans and industry.

2TM said it made sense for the station to expand on the chart's reach, and so the decision was made to countdown the top ten Australian country music songs of the week.

Last week's Top 5, published May 14, included singles from Aussie trio The McClymonts, Oh Harlow, Camille Trail, Jerry Road and Adam Harvey.

The show starts this Friday (May 22) and is hosted by 2TM’s very own country music singer-songwriter, Sally-Anne Whitten, and will run for an hour each Friday from 4pm.

"I’m so proud to be able to continue the tradition of promoting and celebrating Australian country music with a dedicated chart and radio program," said Whitten.

"The standard of Aussie country music is at an all-time high and it’s fitting that 2TM should be heavily involved in getting it to the airwaves."
