Seth Sentry signs to Island, drops first single in two years

Seth Sentry has dropped his first new single in two years to celebrating inking a new deal with Island Records Australia.

The track is called ‘Wrong One’ and is his first new music since 2017’s ‘Play It Safe’.

Sentry has also announced the Wrong One Single Tour for June.

‘Wrong One’ combines psychedelic rock and bluesy guitar with his rap attack, made with long-time collaborator Styalz Fuego and multi-instrumentalist Carl Dimitaga.

Sentry explains the track’s sonic approach: “When I write I usually have a little movie playing in my head.

“This movie takes place in the moments before the final stand. The last shootout.

“There’s a price on my head, and every bounty hunter in the country is here to collect it.

“Surrounded by dirty lawmen with shiny gold stars – high horses and low morals – I’m not going out without a fight.

“Besides, what kind of man would put a bounty on his own head?”

Born Seth Gabriel Marton and growing up on the Victorian surf coast, his stage name came from Marvel comic book superhero Sentry.

His debut album This Was Tomorrow made a splash overseas, including a dream-come-true appearance on late-night US TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Closer to home, the record went Gold, won an ARIA nomination and saw Seth named Channel [V] artist of the year.

Second album Strange New Past debuted at #2 on the ARIA charts, won an ARIA and AIR award, and spawned four triple j high rotation singles in ‘Run’, ‘Hell Boy’, ‘Dumb’ and ‘1969’. Which according to Island generated “millions of streams and views”.

'Hell Boy' made it to #91 on the TMN Hot 100, also peaking at #3 on the TMN Alternative Chart.

A third album is due later in 2019.
