TMN Hot 100: Sam Smith & Normani dance their way to #1

The battle for Aussie airplay supremacy has taken a new turn with Sam Smith & Normani's 'Dancing With A Stranger' rising to #1 on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart.

It’s Smith’s third airplay #1 hit in Australia after ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ and ‘Promises’ alongside Calvin Harris. For Normani, it’s the first time the former Fifth Harmony member has hit the chart’s summit.  

"Sam & Normani have been building rapidly ever since 'Dancing' debuted at #54 four weeks ago," said Peter Tuskan, TMN charts & new music editor. "It was always looking very likely that the track would push through to #1 after coming close these last two weeks."

Only a slim margin of spins separate ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ and former #1 Dean Lewis' '7 Minutes' which slips to #2 this week.

While ‘Dancing’ remained fairly steady for spins across commercial radio, the Nova network pulled back slightly on ‘7 Minutes’, ultimately seeing the track fall from pole position.
